Mass and strength are often closely associated. And why not? Guys like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Andre the Giant and Reggie White had both, in spades!
Yes, it’s a relatively safe bet that the heavier something – or someone – is built, the more robust it will be. However, it’s not a hard and fast rule. Light can be strong, too. Ask Bruce Lee or Olympian Gabby Douglas. Pick up a tennis racket made of titanium, or a fishing rod made of carbon fiber.
Maybe strength really lies in the heart of an athlete, or in the quality of a product.
For years, The Alliance SL stone-lined sidearm tank has earned a reputation as one of the industry’s longest-lasting, best-insulated and most easily maintained indirect fired water heaters. It even has a big warranty to back up all the hype.
Plenty of contractors install the Alliance SL simply because nothing else will hold up. This is especially true where water quality is very poor, or where hardness, softness or chlorides could otherwise be an issue.
In fact, we’ve heard the following for years: “I love the Alliance SL. It’s bomb-proof!” But, we’ve also heard that moving the product down a set of basement stairs can be challenging.
This has not fallen on deaf ears. We now have an alternative worthy of the Alliance name. We’re happy to introduce the new Alliance LT. This new, thermoplastic-lined sidearm tank packs all the performance of the original Alliance at a fraction of the weight.
Everything you love, minus the weight
The Alliance LT relies on a proprietary, double-bonded thermoplastic tank liner. The thermoplastic-liner can handle aggressive water conditions by continuously replenishing and rebalancing antioxidant levels throughout the storage vessel. The double bonded liner assures that the tank will keep performing over its long service life.
Furthermore, the Alliance LT’s copper heat exchanger is isolated within the tank so that no sacrificial anode is needed. This eliminates the rotten egg smell that some homes have at the tap, which can come as a result of the anode degrading. It also means that the tank won’t require a yearly anode replacement. This provides savings and peace of mind to your valued customer.
Just like its counterpart, the Alliance LT features a one-inch layer of dense foam insulation, providing minimal standby heat loss. How minimal? The 70-gallon model loses less than half a degree per hour under normal conditions.
So how’s that stack up against other water heaters? When the annual cost due to thermal loss was tested against the five other major brands, the Alliance was almost half that of the nearest competitor.
Simple service, rapid recovery
Any water heater with an optional lifetime warranty needs to be serviceable. Both Alliance models fit that requirement to a “T.”
All bolted connections are located on the top of the tank. This way, all the work takes place at waist-height. The heat exchanger stretches down through the tank to the bottom, where it wraps into a six-inch coil. Should the coil ever need to be removed for cleaning, the exchanger can be pulled from the top of the unit without needing to drain the tank.
What good is a long lasting water heater if it doesn’t provide short recovery times? The tried-and-true heat exchanger design used on the Alliance won’t leave customers out in the cold.
Fresh water enters the tank from the top, via a diffuser that deposits water toward the bottom of the tank. The perforated diffuser shoots cold water in a 360-degree pattern across the heat exchanger. This puts the coldest water in direct contact with the hottest surface. This unique design has proven to speed up recovery time by more than 15 percent. Fast water movement across the heat exchanger also diminishes mineral buildup on the coil.
Long live a lighter water heater!
The Alliance LT comes standard with an advanced TPI thermostat control and 10-year residential warranty. A lifetime warranty is optional.
The tank’s easily-removed heat exchanger, miniscule standby heat loss, lack of an anode rod, and long lifespan mean lower cost-to-own for your customers. All sizes – from 30 to 119 gallons – are built with the same long-lasting quality.
For too long, the industry has considered water heaters disposable. What if a water heater were engineered to last a lifetime? The Alliance LT is, and offers easy portability to boot.
